How Word & Reading Time Counts Are Calculated

This tool counts words by splitting your text on whitespace, counts characters both with and without spaces, and counts sentences by looking for sentence-ending punctuation (. ! ?). Paragraphs are counted as blocks of text separated by line breaks.

Reading time = word count ÷ 200 words per minute Speaking time = word count ÷ 130 words per minute
